Brow lamination for thin or sparse brows – what to expect

If your brows are thin, light or have gaps, there are three good options – lamination, lamination with tint and hybrid brows. Here's what each one does, so you can choose with Nikola.

Lamination: direction and fullness

Brow lamination changes the direction of the brow hairs so they sit in a fuller, neater shape. It suits brows that grow in different directions, have gaps, or simply need more structure.

Lamination with tint: fullness and colour

Tint makes light or sparse brows look fuller and more defined, so lamination with tint is a good way to get both. If your brows are already dark, lamination alone is often enough.

Hybrid brows: colour on the skin too

A hybrid stain tints the brow hairs and lightly stains the skin underneath, so sparse areas look fuller. Nikola mixes the colour to suit your hair and skin tone, then shapes your brows to frame your face.

If your brows thinned suddenly

If your brows have thinned suddenly or in patches, it's worth asking your GP first – a brow treatment changes how brows look, not why they thin.

Will it look natural?

Yes – natural, unless you want a stronger look. Nikola agrees a natural or more lifted finish with you before she starts, and mixes the shade for you.

How long it lasts

Brow lamination typically lasts around 4 to 6 weeks. With hybrid brows, the tint on the hairs usually lasts several weeks and the stain on the skin fades sooner, depending on your skin type and aftercare. Neither is a guarantee.

Questions

Which is best for sparse brows?

Hybrid brows make sparse areas look fuller because the stain also colours the skin; lamination with tint adds fullness and colour together. Nikola will advise which suits your brows.

Will lamination make thin brows look stiff?

No – it doesn't have to look stiff or heavily brushed up. Nikola agrees the finish with you first.

Do I need a patch test?

For lamination with tint and hybrid brows, yes – at least 24 hours before, if it's your first tint with Nikola or your last one was more than 6 months ago.
